Tom Culver is being honored as this month’s Veteran of the Month. Culver is a veteranoftheWarinAfghanistan. Culver enlisted in the National Guard in May 1985 until 1995 and did his service through the Mitchell National Guard. After getting out of the National Guard, Tom took an 11-year break before re-enlisting in 2006. Culver decided to re-enlist after 9/11 becauseofthebenefitsoffered and the state of the affairs of the country.

For poultry enthusiasts,AchievementDaysclassesrangefrompurebred exhibition poultry, layer pens, or meat pens. Time is of the essence here so that your poultry is fully feathered and in its best condition by Achievement Days in August. Our club members help newcomers by getting you in contact with breeders, giving advice on setup and care, and coaching on preparing your birds and yourself. Youth interested in rabbits also should be starting to contact breeders and working on finding a rabbit to show. Rabbits must be purebred and tattooed.

Read moreThe library personnel are busy putting the finishing touches on the new library location. The open house will be Wednesday, February 7th 1:00-7:00. Tours of the building, with refreshments being served will be part of the occasion. We will have door prizes, sign up for programming at the library to start soon, such as 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, classes in using computers and a demonstration on how to use the free on-line e-book consortium “Libby”. Every one who attends will be able to leave with a free book! Drawings for gift cards will also be available. Watch for posters coming soon and pass the word. We hope to see you there.
