The Wagner Red Raiders wrapped up their 2024 season on Friday, May 17th with a 5-15 loss to Parkston. Mara Wright started in the circle for Wagner, walking two. Hannah Holzbauer finished the last two innings for the Red Raiders walking seven and striking out four.
Read moreA free Wagner Red Raiders softball camp was offered to 1st grade through 6th graders on Tuesday, May 14th after school. The camp was put on by Wagner Community School high school freshmen, Braxton Nedved and Shaelee Turner. As part of their Workplace Technical Skills class with Mrs. Tera Koupal, the students had to do a class project where they were required to help others. Several other students from the class were doing sport camps, so Branxton and Shaelee thought with it being softball season and both playing softball since they were in 10U that it would be a fun project for the pair. As SD high school softball has only been sanctioned for the past two seasons, Wagner Community School has never had a softball camp. The girls thought it would be a great idea to put on the first softball camp ever.

Becky has always said that she would retire from teaching when her youngest child graduated from high school. As her youngest, Jhett, is a WHS 2024 Class Graduate, Becky held true to her words and is officially retiring from teaching this 2023-2024 school year. She wants to end her teaching career still having a love for the students and staff.

Sandy has been a part of the food service team as a dishwasher and server. Sandy has decided that as the 2023-2024 school year comes to a close, so does her time at WCS. She is officially retiring. Sandy decided that it was time to retire in order to be able to help her mom.
Read moreThe 34th annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon was held on Monday, April 29th in Pierre. This event highlights the academic achievements of the best and brightest 1% of students throughout South Dakota from the Class of 2024. This year Wagner High School senior, Jennifer Barnett, was honored at the luncheon. Each student is presented with a certificate, South Dakota pin and has the opportunity to meet and have their picture taken with the governor. As Governor Kristi Noem had a prior engagement, the students had their picture taken with Lieutenant Governor, Larry Rhoden. The event had around 200 students who were recognized for their academic excellence.
