I would like to personally thank Evelyn Conn and Janet Evans who volunteered their time to help with clean up of the building after construction and helped to organize and clean various items from the former library. Thank you to the library employees for their persistence in getting things organized and shelved. Thank you to members of the library board and the City of Lake Andes City Council, former Financial Officer Debbie Houseman and current Financial Officer Charlotte Pesicka , Donna Ishmael and City Maintenance workers. I also want to thank all those who have been asking about the progress of the library and supporting the process of moving the library.
Read moreRodd Holman is being honored as this month’s Veteran of the Month. Holman is a Veteran of the Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, the War on Terror, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Holman entered the Navy on May 17th of 1986 and served until October 1st of 2006. During his 20-year military career Rodd has been stationed and spent time in destinations all over the world.

'Lead Her Forward' continues to be the theme for this year's National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential. The NGWSD is an annual day of observance to acknowledge theaccomplishmentsoffemaleathletes,recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and advocation for equality for women in sports. The certificate is presented to outstanding female athletes who exemplify the qualities of excellence in sports skills, leadership, self-discipline and perseverance. This year, the Avon School District recognized McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees as their NGWSD nominees.
