CELEBRATING NATIONAL HAIRSTYLIST APPRECIATION DAY

This year National Hairstylist Appreciation Day is celebrated on April 25th. Hairstylists and colorists do important work all day, every day, whether it is a fixing a bad haircut, advising on a new style or color or just making someone feel beautiful and more like themselves. The Wagner community has some great stylists at the town’s beauty salon, Town and Country. Vicki Jo Koupal, Kara Hanan, Deb Uherka, Dawn Waters and Nikki Sandven. Together these ladies have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the beauty profession.

MILLIONS OF VETERANS EXPOSED TO ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR VA HEALTH CARE

The VA has announced that all veterans who were ex¬posed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the mili¬tary – at home or abroad – will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care beginning March 5, 2024. This means that all veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Ad¬ditionally, veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States will also be eligible to enroll.

WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

One of this week’s featured WCS seniors is Sapphire Simmons. Sapphire is the daughter of Jeremy Simmons and Angel Fallis-Simmons. Sapphire does go by the nickname Saph. During her years at Wagner Community School, Sapphire has been involved in several extra-curricular activities including JAG (three years) and cheer (one year).
