Lila Ann Vanderlei was bornonOctober23,2006.Lila is the daughter of Craig and Amy Vanderlei, and the sister of Grace, Lexi, Bree, and Jon Vanderlei. She loves DIY projects and just being outside. Lila’sproudestachievements at AHS are being on the Merit Honor Roll all four years of high school, as well as remaining in extra-curricular activities such as volleyball and basketball. Lila’s biggest role models are her parents because they taught her how to be a good person and that hard work pays off. One word of advice Lila lives by is “Make good choices.” – Mom. Lila’s advice for underclassmen is, “Do your homework.” Lila’s favorite subject is science because it makes her think, and she finds it interesting. After high school, Lila plans togotocollegeandstudySecondary Science Education.

Read moreIt seems impossible, but we have just finished the first nine weeks of school! Our fall sports are slowly winding down.Fourmembersofthecross-countryteamqualifiedfor state and will be competing in Rapid City next weekend. The Football team ended the season 7-1 and will be competing in the playoffs on Thursday night. Region Volleyball is quickly approaching. Other activities such as Oral Interp, HOSA, etc are also getting in full swing. The band and chorus are preparing for their fall and winter concerts. It is great to see students reach out of their comfort zone and perform in public. I don’t believe we fully appreciate the risk students take to put themselves out in the public where everyone can see them succeed or fail. It builds discipline, mental toughnessandconfidence.Nomattertheoutcome,wealways need to support these students. A goal at Avon is to have every student be involved in at least one extracurricular activity. We greatly appreciate the community attendance and financial support of all our extracurricular activities! At the same time, our teachers are constantly developing engaging and challenging curriculum to grow each student academically. Finally, next week we invite everyone to the Veteran’s Day program on November 11 at 2:45 in the school gymnasium.
