CHARLES VERNON

Charles 'Chuck' Vernon World Turner, a member of the Hunkpati & Ihanktonwan Dakota, passed away July 9th, 2024, near his residence in Wagner. Born on January 16th, 1963, in Yankton, to Mildred Jones and Kenneth World Turner Sr., Chuck spent his formative years in Fort Thompson and received his education at Crow Creek Tribal Schools. He exhibited a fervent interest in basketball, contributing to the success of the Chieftains in achieving state championships. Subsequently, he pursued further studies at Haskell Indian Nations University.

ARMANTHA MCBRIDE

Armantha, 64, of Wagner, died Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 10 at the YST South Gym. Burial was in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

DANGEL COMPETES AT 4-H NATIONAL SHOOTING SPORTS COMPETITION

Luke Dangel attended the 4-H National Shooting Sports competition on June 23rd through June 28th in Grand Island, NE at the Heartland Public Shooting Park. Luke is the son of Mike and Tina Dangel and is a junior at Andes Central. Luke first joined 4-H when he was five years old as a Cloverbud. He became involved in 4-H as his family was already very involved. Luke has been a part of the shooting sports events for the past eight years. He participates in the air pistol, air rifle, .22 pistol, .22 rifle and archery. Luke originally started participating in shooting sports in the BB gun event.
