WAGNER STUDENTS TO DESIGN POLICE DEPARTMENT UNIFORM BADGES

Wagner’s Chief of Police, Damon Griffith, came up with an innovative idea. He saw that the Wagner Police Department’s uniform sleeve badges were not only very basic but in desperate need of an updated design. Griffith thought instead of paying a very expensive fee for an outside company to design a new uniform badge that it would be a great opportunity to partner with the Wagner Community School and have some of the amazing young local artists design the new uniform badges because no one is more creative than high school art students. Griffith took this idea and put it into the hands of Stewart Bass, WCS Resource Officer, and Megan Zephier, WCS high school art teacher.

WAGNER PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES DONATION OF BOOKS FROM DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

Two members of The Daniel Newcomb Chapter of the National Society for Daughters of the American Revolution, donated two books to the Wagner Public Library on Wednesday, September 25th. Local members of the Daniel Newcomb Chapter of the National Society for Daughters of the American Revolution are Juanita Stone and Sister Pat Mylott. They donated We Fought for Freedom by Tara Ross and Her Name was Mary Katharine by Ella Schwartz. The two books are recommended for readers aged seven to ten years of age. The Daughters of the American Revolution is a women’s service organization whose mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. For the past 15 years, Juanita has been working to be able to prove that her family fought in the Revolutionary War. Through her research, she was able to find four members from the Meteer side of her family that fought for both sides during the War. She was about to finally join the Daughters of the American Revolution at the beginning of 2024.

TUTTLE ATTENDS PITCH, HIT & RUN COMPETITION IN MINNESOTA

After winning the 7-8 year old girls softball division of the local Wagner Pitch, Hit, & Run competition with a score of 425 on July 11th, Tycara Tuttle was invited to the Minnesota Twins Team Championship in St. Paul, Minnesota. Tycara is the daughter of Laken Nedved and Jordan Tuttle. She is the granddaughter of Stan and Janet Nedved, Karen Archambeau and Tonya Tuttle and Dennis Ross. While competing at the Minnesota Twins Team Championship, Tycara won the competition in her division with a score of 640. She currently is ranked 9th nationally, with the top five scorers getting to participate in the championships which are held during the Major League Baseball world series. The competition included hitting five balls off of the tee, pitching five balls at a target and two chances at a timed run of 90 feet. Congratulations to Tycara on placing 9th nationally at the Pitch, Hit & Run team championships!
