ANDES CENTRAL SENIOR SPOTLIGHT-ONA’KA DOREN

This week’s featured senior is Ona’ka Doren. Ona’ka is the daughter of Henry Romero and Suzie Doren-Romero. She has six siblings Tre’zen, Kea’ona, Henry, Char’lee, Cheryl and Andreas. Basketball, JAG, FCCLA and volleyball are activities that Ona’ka has been involved in during her high school years at Andes Central. Ona’ka’s favorite school lunch is Thanksgiving dinner. Her favorite high school teacher is Mr. Winter because he is a fun teacher. Her favorite high school memory was getting to play tennis on Mr. Winter’s Wii. In her free time, Ona’ka enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS

December 1st (Friday) has been set as the date for the annual Christmas Parade and Customer Appreciation Day in Lake Andes. Start now to plan a parade entry! “Christmas” is the theme this year for parade entries. Customer appreciation can be handled by each individual business and as they choose. The annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at the corner of 3rd Ave and Main Street is a highlight of the night. Drawings for hams and turkeys will also take place after the tree lighting. If you have a group that would like to organize a food sale or a craft fair that would be wonderful. Let’s make this the best Christmas Parade and Customer Appreciation Day to date!

LIBRARY NEWS

It is finally here. The Library is moving from the 500 Main Street location to the new location at 17 Park Ave, which is across the street to the south from the Andes Central School playground. The library will now be known as the Lake Andes Public Library, as we are moving out of the Carnegie building. The building at 500 Main Street will now be renovated and used as a City of Lake Andes Museum.
