This week’s featured Andes Central Senior is David Jandrea. David will be the last senior spotlight of the 2023-2024 senior class. David is the son of Jewel Brewer and has two siblings Aleena and Justin. During his high school years, David has been involved in basketball. Walking tacos are David’s favorite school lunch and government is his favorite class.
Read moreAvon’s police force has a new enlistee. Officer Theodore Smith took the Officer/Chief position October 30th of 2023. Officer Smith has ten years of experience in law enforcement. Prior to taking the position in Avon, he was working for the Winner City Jail as a transport officer. His experience and education in law enforcement is quite extensive. He has worked as the Deputy Sheriff for McPhersonCountyandas a Reserve Police Officer for Sturgis. Smith also has a bachelor’s degree in history from Black Hills State University and an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement from Western Dakota Tech.

All former South Dakotans, either permanent or seasonal residents are invited to attend with their family. The SD Picnic will be held indoors in the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Parking and fellowship hall entrance is at the rear of the church building. Please bring a main dish or dessert with enough to share, along with plates and eating utensils for yourself. Serving utensils will be provided, along with soft drinks, water, coffee and tea. There will be no alcoholic beverages served at the SD Picnic.
