Rotary News

The Wagner Rotary Club met on Wednesday, April 10th with a full house. President Becky Brunsing startled members with a loud ring of the Rotary Bell. The only guest present was Josh Davies who was there for the program. Pastor/Rotarian Bill Heermann gave thanks for the food, the day and asked for guidance from the Holy Spirit to aid all Rotarians as they go about in our Wagner Community.

WAGNER WELCOMES A NEW BUSINESS-ACED CONCRETE & LANDSCAPING

Aced Concrete & Landscaping formerly of Black Duck, MN has recently relocated to Wagner. Ryan Strand has owned and operated Aced Concrete & Landscaping for the last two years. Ryan came up with the name while playing cards one day, it came to him that it is hard to beat an ace in cards and thus came the name Aced Concrete and Landscaping. Aced Concrete and Landscaping is a construction business that offers decorative concrete, garage floors and landscaping. Ryan feels that what sets his business apart from others is that he has an eye for concrete design and really enjoys being able to help someone make their vision a reality.

This month’s featured volunteer firefighter is Wagner’s Mike Insko. Mike has been a member of the Wagner Volunteer Fire Department for the last 13 years. Mike first joined the Wagner Fire Department because he wanted to become a part of an organization to meet others in the community and to be a part of providing assistance to the Wagner and surrounding areas.

KREEGER WINS DISTRICT CONTEST, MOVES TO STATE COMPETITION

Emma Kreeger is the daughter of Chad and Cathy Kreeger; she is a freshman at Wagner Community School. Emma won the local Wagner American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) essay contest and then her essay competed at the district competition, where she also won first place. Emma’s essay will now be competing at the State ALA Essay Contest where the state winner will be announced in June. This year’s title/theme for the contest is “What does Freedom Mean to Me?” Here is Emma’s essay: To me, freedom is more than just a word in the English dictionary. Freedom is the right to act, speak, and think on your own good-will. In the United States, I feel a lot of people take our freedom for granted. There are still many places around the world who do not have the luxury of experiencing freedom. In the United States, we have human rights that include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of religion and expression, the right to work and educate, and must more. Why should we take these freedoms for granted when many others could only fathom the freedoms we have?
