Beginning June 10, families of deceased and cremated Veterans can apply to receive commemorative plaques or urns from VA if they do not want to inter their loved ones in a VA National Cemetery or receive a government-furnished headstone, marker or medallion for placement in any cemetery.

THE LEARNING CAMP IS COMING

The Ihanktonwan Learning Camp will be returning to our community soon, on June 17th, earlier than it has in the past. A group of volunteers have come to us from Maryland since 2010 to offer fun and educational activities for children for a week. The camp is offered with the help and support of historic Cedar and Greenwood Presbyterian churches. Robin Bissell, who has led the camp since its beginning says “Special thanks go to Pete Kazena, Mary Antelope, Geraldine Provost, Reverend Jerry Zephier and many others. We are also holding special places of gratitude in our hearts for those who have helped us so much in the past. These include Natalie Medicine Bear, Karen White Horse and Robert Cournoyer.”
