The Lake Andes Farmers Market held their first market of the season this past Tuesday, June 18th. The farmers market is sponsored by the Lake Andes Food and Wellness Council. The Lake Andes Food and Wellness Council was first able to begin this community program through a Connected Community grant.

I called Pierre and was told there has been a delay in starting the study due to an audit concern. There is no definite timeline on when the study will start. The friend’s group has only raised about one third of the $45,000 needed to match the grant from the transportation department (federal gas tax money). This money is only for the study, not for any construction.

The riders were welcomed and enjoyed lunch with several Wagner American Legion members and several of Wagner’s own American Legion riders. After giving the riders a nice break filled with great conversation and lunch, the Wagner American Legion presented the organization with a $500 donation.

Read moreThe Yankton Sioux Tribe Adult General Education Diploma (GED) held their graduation ceremony Friday, June 7th. The ceremony was held at Wagner Lake. The ceremony opened with Richie Sully giving the opening prayer. Barb Unruh, the SD State GED Administrator and YST Vice Chairman, Jason Cooke, were guest speakers at the event. The drum group at the ceremony was the Hilltop Singers (Fancis Boyer).
