Read moreOn April 1, the first graders and Mrs. Kuhlman started incubating their chicks, no “fooling!” Mrs. Benita Kuhlamn said, “We put them in on April Fools day and 28 chicks hatched on Earth Day!” They received their eggs from Michael and Amanda Ratzlaff. Zoey Sassaman said, “We learned that the chicks are very delicate, and we also learned the life cycle of a chicken!”
Read moreReece Loewe is currently a senior at Avon High School with plans to attend South Dakota State University in the upcoming fall. In January, Loewe applied for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Scholarship. The opportunity was offered to her by Ms. Saddi Wynia, the school guidance counselor. Essentially, the scholarship requires applicants to type a timed essay. The topic of the essay is unknown to the applicant until it is time to apply. Loewe had two hours to complete the essay and it needed to be a minimum of 500 words.
