Betty (Steffen) Kirwan, 87, passed away at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Rosary will be Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with visitation following. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes following the visitation. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cathlic Cemetery in Spencer, NE at a later date. Virginia Harms, 95, died at Avantara Nursing Home in Armour on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Private committal services for Virginia Harms, 95, of Armour, will be Wednesday, August 19, at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, the committal service is for family only. Any of Virginia’s friends or former students who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend visitation between 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, at the Armour United Church of Christ. No memorial service will be held following visitation and family will be not be present. No flowers please.

Funeral services for Donald Gasper, 85, of Lake Andes were Thursday, August 13 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

The library has received four selections - one non-fiction, three fiction based on the Civil Rights Movement across the globe. The non-fiction is titled Down Along with that Devil’s Bones, A Reckoning with Monuments, Memory, and The Legacy of White Supremacy authored by Connor Towne O’Neill. The three fiction selections are His Only Wife by Peace Adzo Medie, Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez and Impersonation by Heidi Pitlor. These are available for check out by our library patrons.
