SD OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HOLDS MEETING

The South Dakota Department Office of Emergency Management held an application briefing on Wednesday, September 4th at the Charles-Mix County 4-H building in Lake Andes. The meeting was held to give county crews, business members and Charles-Mix County residents information about the application process for any damages that were incurred from the flooding this past June and July. There are four phases that an applicant must go through in order to potentially recover damages after completing and submitting an initial request for public assistance.

Wagner Rotarians gathered on September 4th with President Jordan Weber giving a nice soft ring of the bell to bring everyone to order. Rotarian Jeff Doom introduced his two guests: his mother Jeanette Doom and his brother Bruce. Song leader Gerrit Juffer led the group in singing two verses of the Battle Hymn of the Republic.

LITTLEST RED RAIDERS GET INTO THE HOMECOMING SPIRIT WITH STUDENT/PARENT ACTIVITY

The Wagner Early Learning Center (WELC) hosted a fun student/parent activity last Friday. Parents were invited to come to the preschool and help their student make homecoming posters for this week’s homecoming. There was a great turnout of parents who were able to come and join in the fun of helping their little ones decorate posters that will be hung around WCS this week. Great job to all our Little Red Raiders, parents, and staff!

Sharon Haar attended the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony for 2023-2024 on August, 9th. At the ceremony, Sharon was one of 21 volunteers recognized for their volunteer services. The volunteers were celebrated with a ceremony, yearly training, luncheon and finally award presentation.

EXCLUSION OF THE EXISTING FISCHER FARMS PROPERTY FROM ETJ AND PLACEMENT OF BUFFALO TOP TOPICS AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City of Wagner held their monthly city council meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 6 p.m. at the Wagner Armory. Some of the bigger topics discussed at that meeting were Nathan Kafka’s request to amend the ETJ boundary to exclude 80 acres that once was Fischer Farms, East River Horizons request to place the Buffalo statuaries at Wagner Lake, request to purchase portable swim lane bulkheads for the city pool, and updates to McCormick Ball Park fence.
