STAYING WELL PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY WITH SOC

In many ways the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our normal both temporarily and permanently. It has forced us to think about our physical wellness. We wash our hands more frequently, avoid close contact with others, cover our mouths and noses with cloth face covers when around others, cover our coughs and sneezes, and disinfect often. BASTEMEYER HONORED FOR 45 YEARS OF SERVICE

On Friday staff at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital celebrated 45 years of service from Pam Bastemeyer, nurse here at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital. They enjoyed individual wrapped cookies, gifts and a presentation of a start quilt to Pam. Covid friendly retirement party, didn’t know if you wanted to put this is the paper for this week or next.. as long as she gets some recognition! We could not have a proper retirement party with the pandemic going on.

I know everyone is eager to get back to their daily routines and dive back into what they love doing. But it’s important to remember that some people will never get to return to normal. I lost my Dad at a very young age. That experience greatly changed the path that I was on. Similarly, this COVID-19 pandemic has greatly changed the path so many South Dakotans were on as well.

LET'S CONSIDER SOME BACKYARD DISTANCING

Earlier this week Betsy and I drove to Mitchell to visit with some dear friends. We met in their backyard, maintained a safe distance, and enjoyed a splendid reunion. We ordered a carryout pizza from Little Caesar’s for lunch. Among the many topics of conversation was a pair of wood ducks that visited their backyard in search of a possible nesting site. Another topic was a newly discovered fishing hole.

CRUISE NIGHT WITH POPCORN AND ROOTBEER FLOATS

Marie, Zelie and Siera Weber were among the spectators who enjoyed watching the parade of vehicles with popcorn and rootbeer floats as the weather cooperated and it turned out to be a beautiful evening for the event .
