On Thursday, April 28, Wagner’s track teams traveled to a small five team meet in Tyndall. This meet was postponed from an earlier date and therefore not all of the teams originally slated to compete were able to attend. The teams attending along with Wagner were Bon Homme, Avon, Scotland, and Platte-Geddes.

Read moreAs the year comes to a close, we seniors are experiencing our final “lasts.” On May 5 at 6:30 p.m., we will attend our last ever Awards Banquet as an AHS student. On May 6-7 most of the senior track athletes will be in Sioux Falls for track meets at O’Gorman and the Howard Wood Relays.
Read moreAvon musicians performed at their last concert of the year on April 28. The choir and band students performed songs that are well-known. At the Pops Concert some of the choir students sang solos, duets, or ensembles.
Read moreMay 6 and 7 was the 97th Annual Howard Wood Relays. Avon’s track team had eight events and/ or individuals competing in the annual meet. In order to get into Howard Wood, teams are selected by their times or distances. For relays, they take three heats in each class. All four of the Lady Pirate girl’s relays made it. For throwers and jumpers, they take the top 48 competitors in all the classes combined. On Friday, the 4x200 girls ran along with the boys 4x800 relay. Lila Vanderlei threw the shot put and Courtney Sees long jumped. On Saturday the girls 4x100, 4x400 and medley relay ran. Vanderlei threw the discus.
