Norman Woods and some of his children (Terri Rezac, Cheryl Smith, Julie Dennis, Frank Woods, Steve Woods, and Dana Woods) recently met with members of the Wagner Cemetery Association to make a monetary donation in the amount of $3600 for improvements to the Wagner Cemetery. With the news of the recent reorganization of the Wagner Cemetery Board, the Woods family felt moved to make this donation in honor of Norman. In turn Norman Woods has chosen to make this donation in memory of his ancestors and relatives. These include: Thomas & Mary (Sadler) Hawkey and descendants (Norman’s Great Grandparents), Newton & Nora (Hawkey Dunsmore and descendants (Norman’s Grandparents), and Orville & M. Edna (Dunsmore) Woods (Norman’s Parents).

Wagner had two All Conference girls basketball players in the LMVC conference. 1st Team Macy Koupal and 2nd Team Shalayne Nagel. In the SESD Wagner had three All Conference players with Abby Brunsing and Macy Koupal on 2nd team and Shalayne Nagel third team. When I was a kid, my grandparents took me fishing at the Lake Norden spillway, a passage that allows water from Lake Norden to flow underneath Highway 28 and into lakes Mary, John, Albert and points beyond. I don’t recall being excited by the outing. Fishing had never appealed to me. My grandparents, who once took yearly fishing trips into Saskatchewan and caught their share of Northern pike and perch in the waters of Hamlin County, were no doubt trying to pique my interest in their shared pastime.
