The City of Wagner held their monthly city council meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 6 p.m. at the Wagner Armory. Some of the bigger topics discussed at that meeting were Nathan Kafka’s request to amend the ETJ boundary to exclude 80 acres that once was Fischer Farms, East River Horizons request to place the Buffalo statuaries at Wagner Lake, request to purchase portable swim lane bulkheads for the city pool, and updates to McCormick Ball Park fence.

Read moreOn the evening of Tuesday, August 27th the Wagner Labor Day committee along with the 2024 Labor Day parade marshals Don and Joan Hubbard and their family gathered together for the annual tree dedication. Nestled in a beautiful spot with plenty of room to grow was a recently planted Oak tree, which had been planted by Von Eschen Lawn and Landscaping. The Hubbards being very family oriented were surrounded by their daughter Patti and her husband, three of their five grandchildren and all eight of their great grandchildren. This year’s Labor Day Committee Chairman, Cameron Goodrich, gave the dedication and thanked the Hubbards for all of their dedications and contributions to the Wagner community.
Read moreNational Newspaper Carrier Day is being celebrated this year on Wednesday, September 4th. In honor of this day, we would like to celebrate and recognize our own local newspaper carrier, Dave Link or as many people know him,” The Kernal/Colonel”. Dave has been carrying the Wagner Post, Avon Clarion, Lake Andes Wave and Announcer for Pechous Publications for going on two years, when he started in 2023. He first became interested in the position after Scott Pechous approached him asking him if he would be interested in carrying the newspapers. Dave agreed, thinking he would “give it a whirl” and here he is two years later still enjoying his weekly job.

Read moreLeon FlyingHawk was presented with a Wagner Community Recognition Award on Thursday, August 8th at the 605 Unity Jam’s Sessions by the Lake event held at Wagner Lake. Mayor, Tammy Thornton, presented Leon with this award “for being a guiding light to others.' When asked how he felt about receiving this award, Leon said very surprised. The day of the event, Dana Sanderson kept calling Leon, telling Leon that he needed help setting up for the Sessions by the Lake event. Leon thought it was very unusual that Dana would call him so much in one day, but did not really think very much on it. At a point during the event, Leon was asked to come up to the stage and was presented his recognition award. Leon was not expecting this and had no words to say except for thank you.
