Jayne M. Crisman, a 2010 Wagner Community School graduate, was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Air Force on July 31st at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Jayne began her military career by participating in Air Force ROTC at South Dakota State University and then was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. upon her graduation from college in 2014. She had been stationed in Alaska and Germany prior to her present assignment in Florida. Major Crisman is a member of American Legion Greer Post #11 in Wagner.
Read moreMara Wright, a Wagner Community School sophomore, attended a Junior Day National Softball Showcase on August 9th -11th in College Park, MD. Mara is the daughter of Calvin Sr. and Mona Wright. Mara began playing softball when she was 10 years old and has enjoyed the game ever since. It is the fiercely competitive environment that drives Mara to want to constantly play softball. She has played on the WCS varsity softball team since the team formed in spring of 2023. The position that she plays on the school’s softball team is pitcher.

At the recognition, Connie was presented with her certificate by Marcella Strand, the Activities Coordinator of Modern Woodmen Chapter 17406. The event was held at the Wagner American Legion with many community members attending to be a part of Connie’s recognition.

Read more' We’re excited to share that we will soon begin reconstruction of our Wagner skilled nursing center. The renovated building will feature a new kitchen and dining area, upgraded flooring, lighting, and larger bathrooms in the residents’ suites. The facility suffered damage from a fire in a non-resident area of the building in November 2022. Since then, our goal has been to rebuild and bring these critical services back to the community. We anticipate reopening in fall 2025.”

What brought Connie to Wagner was becoming employed by the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera. Connie has been a part of the hospital’s staff and nursing team for the past 34 years. What Connie enjoys most about being a part of the Wagner community are the supportive organizations; compassion of its community members; the progressive nature of its businesses that still value the hometown service touch; and the focus on community improvements that make Wagner a great place to live, work and enjoy.
