I don't want to list names in case I forget anyone, but I do want to acknowledge that a lot of parents and community members stepped up to help me put this on this year. Along with my amazing High School volunteers, I needed parental help serving food, parental help cleaning up while I was directing the Pep Band, I had parents take dishes home to clean for me, community members donate pans of bars to sell, the list goes on and on. I feel like you all really stepped up to help lighten the load for me this year, and I can't thank you enough for it. We hope to see you at some of our upcoming concerts and......Go Pirates!
Read moreChoteau Creek Brewing Company held their annual Octoberfest this past Saturday, September 30th. The event had an authentic homemade German menu. The menu consisted of handmade Bavarian Bratz (made by the brewers), Oma’s apple cake, raspberry and poppyseed kuchen, German chocolate cake, German hot potato salad, Jager schnitzel, sauerbraten, and freshly made spaetzle. Music was provided by KJ (Kara Hanan) and the Gregory Polka Band. This year there were several games including men’s and women’s stein hoist, men’s and women’s keg toss and a kraut eating contest. The winner ate 12 ounces of kraut in less than two minutes. It was a beautiful day and a fun event for all.

Every year since the unexpected passing of their son, Hunter, Tim and Dionne Harrington of Armour have held an annual ride in his honor. Hunter’s dad, Tim, does all the planning for the event. Every year the route changes. Everyone meets in the Blue Moon parking lot at 10:30 am with the ride beginning at 11 am. This year’s route included the Dallas bar, Frank Days; the Herrick bar, Run of the Mill; Knotheads in Pickstown; and the last stop, the Armour Brewing Company in Armour.

Read moreThe Wagner Community School has a new fourth grade teacher, Danieka Heckenlaible, this 2023-2024 school year. Danieka grew up in Wagner and graduated from WCS, which is something that she thinks her students would be surprised to know about her. She comes to WCS after being a kindergarten teacher at Longfellow Elementary in Mitchell. In the short time that she has been a staff member at WCS, she has really enjoyed the atmosphere of the school. Both colleagues and students have been extremely welcoming to her. Mrs. Heckenlaible’s classroom goals for the year are to build strong relationships with her students and to find more creative lessons.

For the past 27 years, Sharon has been a customer service representative for the company. She has taken care of service orders, ordered materials for the office, and assisted customers with various questions and concerns. When Sharon and her late husband, Bruce first moved to Wagner, she was looking for a change from her career of working for attorneys. When she met the Hansen family who owned the Fort Randall Telephone Company, she found her next career. Sharon’s favorite part of working for the Fort Randall Telephone Company is that it is a family-owned faith-based company. Everyone who works for the company has become family to her.
