CLEMENS ATTENDS MIDWEST HONOR FLIGHT

Mission #22, the Clifford & LaVonne Graese Foundation Mission of the Midwest Honor Flight, departed from the Sioux Falls Regional Airport on October 8th filled with 85 Veterans, their guardians and the Midwest Honor Flight staff. On board of the Mission #22 flight was Wagner’s own Dennis Clemens. Dennis was accompanied by his son, Shane, as his guardian.

WCS VETERAN'S DAY PROGRAM HELD

Wagner Community School held their Veteran's Day Program on Monday, November 11. Lydia Yost gave the welcome, the National Guard presented the colors, Presley Slaba gave the invocation, All State Quartet members Jessica Barnett, Sam Kafka, Cruise Koupal, Jackson Rolston, Presley Slaba, Macee Stimpson, Gavin Tjeerdsma and Lydia Yost sang the 'Star Spangled Banner', Allen Hare sang the 'Dakota Flag/Veterans Song'. All Veterans were recognized with Roll Call/Wall of Honor. The 5th and 6th grade chorus sang 'America the Beautiful'. The 7th and 8th Grade Chorus sung the 'Song for the Unsung Hero'.

STATE XC QUALIFIERS

This year AHS had four CrossCountrystatequalifiers: Zander Fathke, Rance Kuhlman, Jack Fathke, and senior John Fathke. They prepared for the competition by getting a lot of sleep, letting loose, stretching, drinking a lot of water, eating good meals, and most importantly, practicing. They were all very excited to have the opportunity to compete at state. Coach Jurrens, along with the boys’ parents, were there to cheer them on. Some of the strategies they usedwere:keepingtheirheads down, staying at an even and steadypacewhengoingup-hill, and saving their energy until the end. If an underclassman wanted to join XC, the athletes suggest working hard, never givingup,andtryingtheirbest.
