Greer Post #11 American Legion Minutes

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on October 17, 2024. Commander Clayton Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious meal. Commander Rados called for a round of thanks for the cooks for this evening’s meal. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.

FRIGHTFULLY DELIGHTFUL ON SECOND STREET

Anyone who has driven by the Bellings' house on 2nd Street, knows that at least one member of their residence loves Halloween, but in this case it is both Patrick Belling and Kesa Alexander that have an affinity for the Halloween season. The house is decorated with large Halloween themed décor including skeletons, a life-size Michael Myers figure, an inflatable Freddy Kruger, headstones, lights, slide show of horror movie characters and scenes, an inflatable Frankenstein and Michael Myers that is taller than the house, ghosts, a life-size Leatherface figure, inflatable zombie, pumpkins and an array of other inflatables and decorations. The best part of the whole scene, is that there are even more amazing Halloween decorations to see and discover inside the Bellings' home.

Rotary News

Sergeant at Arms Jamie Soukup once again assumed the responsibilities of those absent at the head table. Harvest is still in progress for some of our farming Rotarians. Soukup rang the Rotary Bell to bring everyone to attention. Attendance was a little down due to the harvest and other work commitments. After a blessing prayer for the meal, we ate a delicious meal from Valley Pump of vegetable beef soup and a large wrap. Our meals are coordinated with our programs. The Rotarian in charge of the day’s program is also responsible for obtaining the meals from Valley Pump, Two Spurs, and Booms. It is always interesting to see what is on the menu. Wagner Super Foods always provides water, tea, and punch and Geri McAdaragh always provides us with a delicious dessert.

WIECHMANN APPOINTED NATIONAL DIRECTOR

Barb Wiechmann, a member of Court St. Rose of Lima #700, Wagner, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, was recently appointed a Catholic Daughter National Director for North Dakota, Colorado, and a territory of Ohio.
