EUGENE HARE
Funeral Mass for Eugene "Butch" Hare, 62, of Marty was Wednesday, October 17 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wake services began Monday at the Ihanktonwan Oyate Community Center in Marty. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Eugene “Butch” Hare was born to Bertha (Brown Bear) and Henry Hare Sr. on December 28, 1955 at the IHS in Wagner. Butch died Sunday, October 14, 2018 in rural Wagner.
Butch attended Marty Indian School. After graduating high school, he attended college at Antioch School of Law in Washington, DC to become a paralegal.
Butch worked at Marty Indian School as a bus driver, head of transportation, a substitute teacher and a football and basketball coach. He also coached Tiospaye - Men’s Fast-pitch. Butch served two terms on the MIS School Board, Housing Board and the Election Board.
Butch enjoyed playing horseshoes, poker, bingo, bowling and darts. He excelled at all of them!
Butch is preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Bertha Hare; his brothers: Myron, Gaylord, Henry “Rab” Hare Jr.; and sisters: Linda Gullikson and Audrey Cooke.
Butch is survived by his wife Kerry Lynn; his sons Zachary and Isaiah; daughters: La’Rocha, Aubri and Ronda; grandson Anecko; his siblings: Glorian Baker, Yvonne Stricker, Cletus Hare and all family and friends who will miss him.
