JANICE D. FISK
Janice D. (Ishmael) Fisk departed to her eternal home June 25, 2024.
Janice (Jan) was born March 30, 1939, in Wagner to Ida (Sorenson) and Edward Ishmael. Jan grew up in Wagner and attended school there. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart and best friend Warren Fisk from Pickstown. They moved to Pierre, where Warren was working on the Oahe Dam. In 1961 shortly after the birth of their daughter Janelle they moved to Rapid City, where Warren entered the SD School of Mines. They lived the rest of their lives in Rapid City where their son Ron was born.
Jan started her clerical career in Pierre where she worked at the SD State Capitol and later at the Oahe Dam for a joint-venture contractor. During her career she worked for state and federal agencies and for several private companies, most generally as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed books, music, gardening (flowers), and most of all attending her grandchildren's school activities and sporting events. Warren and Jan were fortunate to be able to travel extensively due to Warren's association with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). They traveled to Canada, Mexico, China and Hong-Kong, and nearly every state in the union. Along the way, they made many life-long friends.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Janelle (Leon) Finck; son, Ron Fisk; sister, Sylvajean Uecker; brothers-in-law, Danny Miller and Wayne Dougherty; grandchildren, Ashton (Matt) Wire, Erryn (Brian) Rucker, Ethan Fisk, and Kyrianna Dodge; great-grandsons, Weston and Noah Wire; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Fisk; in-laws, Peg and Loy Fisk; sister, Judy Dougherty; sister-in-law, Jean Miller; brothers-in-law, Glenn Fisk and Francis Uecker; and stepfather Edward Kluth.
Warren and Jan were members of First Baptist Church, and felt blessed to raise their children in a loving church family. Jan loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and tried to live her life to honor Him. She requested there be no special services. It was her hope you would love and celebrate every day and remember her with fondness as a loving friend and woman of faith.
