MERWYN 'JIMMY' SELWYN
Funeral services for Merwyn will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11, at the YST South Gym in Wagner. Burial will be in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Merwyn James Selwyn entered into the the world May 25, 1950 to Luvern and Zelda (Packard) Selwyn. He entered the spirit world peacefully with his daughter Kimberlee by his side April 7, 2024 at Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. God Bless her forever. Affectionately known as “Jimmy” or “Jim.” As a little guy he loved to dance traditional and growing up in Greenwood on the Ihanktonwan Nation. Jimmy was always ready and willing to help when called upon. Doing what the family needed, even wringing 30 chicken necks for a family doing. He mainly loved to fish the James River. He enjoyed working on cars and whittling walking sticks. While married to Voilet Ashes, they lived in Greenwood and had three daughters and one son.
Jimmy is survived by Kimberlee and children Aly, Norman, Zach, Madison, Kaitlyn, DeWayne, Kelly, and children Marisella, Ermelda, Yamil, Ali, and two infants; Larry and children Catalina, Manny, Liliana, Carter and Emma; Kristi and children Orlando and children Akicita, Jailia, Joquin, Desire (Deceased); Caroline and children “JuneBug” Quan, Memphis, Shirlee, Alexis, and Josia; John and children Elid and Krystopher; sisters: Georgette (Francis) Selwyn-Boyer of Wganer, Carol (Dan) Halbert of Yankton, Lois Stock of Yankton, and Shieleen Rowe of Virginia; and all of their children, grandchildren, and greats.
He then married Rose Hayes in Sioux Falls and they had a daughter. He also had three stepdaughters: Heidi, Heather, Lou, and Lincoln Lowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luvern and Zelda Selwyn; four sisters and five brothers.
