DELORES YOUNGBLUTH

Memorial services for De-Lores ‘Dee’ Ida Rose Youngbluth will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m., at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs. Services will be videotaped and will be viewable on her obituary, after the service.

DeLores “ Dee” Ida Rose (Schwarz) Youngbluth was born to Henry and Leonida (Zeitner) Schwarz on August 14, 1933. She passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on October 15, 2022, at her home in Hot

Springs.

She attended country school for grades 1st-8th. She helped with the outside chores of milking cows, feeding pigs and chickens, and gathering eggs. After she left home to go to high school, her dad bought a milking machine! She graduated from Avon HS in 1951. She babysat for room and board and worked at a café and bakery.

She attended St. John Jr. College in Winfield, KS and received an elementary teaching degree. She accepted a job in Rochester, MI teaching 3rd-5th grade in a pa-rochial school for two years. She enjoyed attending hockey games in the area but not the climate, so she moved home and taught at a country school.

She met LaVerle “Bub” Clifford Youngbluth at a dance and they were married on August 19, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. This was the same church where she was baptized and confirmed.

They lived on a farm south of Wagner and raised their five children. She prepared many meals for a growing family and hired men, tended gardens, and maintained flower beds especially her moss roses. Family chores included cleaning chickens and picking eggs. Summers were filled with attending horse shows, play days, and rodeos. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and a secretary for the Wagner Saddle Club for many years. Later she worked as an elementary teacher’s aide at the Wagner Community School.

After moving to Hot Springs in 1986, she worked at the River Run Green House where she loved working with flowers and visiting with customers. Her hobbies were reading, crossword puzzles, and tending flowers to ensure the yard looked well groomed. Many enjoyed her fried chicken, great pies, cookies, popcorn balls, divinity, and other baked goods. She was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church where she helped serve at funeral receptions, and cherished the friendships of the dear ladies of the “SD Sunrise Coffee Group.”

Her loving, caring, humble, and sincere nature, along with her unconditional love will be deeply missed.

Thankful for having shared her life are: husband, Bub, of Hot Springs, daughters Renee (Steve) McAmis of Belle Fourche, Denise (Ron) Soukup of Wagner, Nyla (Marty) Buchholz of Hot Springs, Todd (Danelle) of Pierre, and Greg (Judy) of Hot Springs, brother Arnold Schwarz of Avon, sisters Charlotte Fredrich of Wagner, and Rosetta Robinson of Yankton, brother-in-law John “Jack” Knight of Rapid City, sister-inlaw Marlene Johnson of Yankton, 12 grand children, 14 great grand children, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Norman, in-laws Harley and LaVon Youngbluth, and sister Carole Lee Knight.
