Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, August 19 at St John Catholic Church in Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Jacqueline Faye Brecke was born in Wagner on December 6, 1957 to Lawrence and Shirley (Cihak) Soukup. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, August 15, 2022 at her home in Wagner following a courageous battle with cancer. Jackie graduated from Andes Central High School in 1976 and went on to achieve an Associates Degree as a Veterinary Assistant from National College in Rapid City. She worked for the Rapid City Police Department as a dispatcher for several years. She then started her own business as a pet groomer. Jackie was united in marriage to David Brecke on August 22, 1987, in Rapid City. They welcomed their first child, Chad, in 1990. They moved to Wagner in 1991. Daughter, Devon, was born in 1994. Jackie has worked at the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office for the past 19 years.

Jackie will be remembered for her love of spending time with her family and grandkids. She was known for her incredible cooking and baking skills, all while rarely following a specific recipe. She also enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, book club, golfing, and going to the river. In her younger years she loved showing cattle with her dad.

Jackie was a member of St. John Catholic Church, St. Johns Altar Society and PEO.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband David, of Wagner, two children: Chad (Kari) Brecke of Wagner, and Devon (Levi) Swanson of Crooks; three grandchildren: Aspen Rucktaeschel, Lenox Brecke and Rawley Jacqueline Swanson; mother, Shirley Soukup of Lake Andes; two brothers: Roger (Marjo) Soukup of Lake Andes, Jay (Lori) Soukup of Eckville, Alberta, Canada; sister, Kimberly (Arlyn) Dyce of Rapid City; sisters and brothers-in-law: Paula (Tom) Tobin of Milbank, Rick (Sue) Brecke of the Twin Cities, MN, Kelly Brecke of Minneapolis, MN, and Sharon (Bill) Alexander of FL; and many relatives and friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Soukup and her grandparents: Joseph (Helen) Soukup and James (Ella) Cihak; father and mother-inlaw, Darrell (Carol) Brecke; and niece, Amanda Tobin.
