Funeral services for Thomas John Pelton, 38, of Avon were held Friday, October 18 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. A private burial followed at the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements. Thomas John Pelton was born on November 4, 1985 to Ron and Linda (Winckler) Pelton. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Tom graduated from Avon High School in 2004 and completed his education with a degree in medical billing and coding. After completing his education, he worked at Avera McKennan Hospital as a Patient Services Specialist and Billing Associate. He had a passion for helping people and loved his job. Tom was a free spirit and full of life. He wasn’t afraid of adventure and liked to travel. He enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, watching movies, cooking and liked telling jokes and making people laugh. Tom had a great sense of humor and the loudest laugh in the room. Thankful for having shared his life are his parents, Ron and Linda Pelton of Avon; sister Sheila (Brian) Rezac of Lennox, brother Mike Pelton of Avon and sister Jodi (Steffen) Pelton-Serck of Lennox; nieces: Elizabeth and Madelyn Rezac, and Lydia Serck; great nephew, Jasper Potas; and several aunts and uncles. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wayne and Viola Pelton and Alvin and Frances “Pat” Winckler; and several aunts and uncles.
