KAREN R. HOAG

Karen R. Hoag, 76, loving wife of Vernon J Hoag Sr, passed away peacefully February 24, 2024. Born October 22, 1947, Karen was the daughter of Adolph and Gladys Sejnoha. She married the love of her life, Vernon J Hoag Sr August 5, 1965, and together they shared over five decades of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Karen was a devoted mother to her two children, Vernon J Hoag Jr and the late Kim Hoag. She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest source of happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Karen was a vibrant member of her community, working as a waitress at the Bluebird Restaurant for 32 years and was also known for her dedication to volunteer work. She served on the Auxiliary at the American Legion and was a proud member of the VFW. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her volunteer work, as she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. In her leisure time, Karen enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending quality time with her family and friends. A former high school drummer, she had a deep love for music, with Elvis and Johnny Cash being among her favorites.

Karen will be fondly remembered for her infectious laughter, warm heart, and her beloved sayings such as 'shut your noseholes', 'Holy Sugar Jets', and 'You Greenhorn'. Her spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Her surviving family includes her husband Vernon J Hoag Sr; her son Vernon J Hoag Jr, married to Michelle (White) Hoag, and their three children, Brock Hoag with Chelsea Nober, and their two children Lincoln Hoag and Ava Hoag, Zachary Hoag married to Madison (Breslin) Hoag, and Skyler Hoag; her late daughter Kim Hoag's daughter Kayla Lovette with Dan Davenport and their two children, Brandon Davenport and Hailey Davenport. Karen is also survived by her three sisters, Carol Leonard (Larry), Alice Koupal (Lavern), and Janice Chittenden (Terry), along with numerous nieces and nephews from all over the country.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held Saturday, March 9 at 12:00 p.m., at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Laura Wade officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
