HAROLD COURNOYER

Funeral services for Harold 'Sonny' Cournoyer, 87, of Wagner, were Wednesday, September 18 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery. Wake services began Monday at the Marty Community Center. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Harold Anthony Cournoyer “Sonny” was born on March 6, 1937 to Hazel Flood and Harold Cournoyer in Greenwood. He passed away peacefully in O’Neill, NE on September 11.

Harold enjoyed country music. He worked at various jobs, including welding in Denver, CO and Chicago, IL. He later returned to the Ihanktonwan homelands and worked for the Yankton Sioux Tribe as a janitor for many years.

Harold leaves behind his daughters: Colleen, Barbara, Darla, Sharol, Tonia, and Diamond; sons: Craig, Darren, and Bruno; sisters: Gloria, Florence, Beverly, Debby, and Marlene; brothers: Frank and Foster Cournoyer. He will be missed by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Cournoyer and Hazel Flood; daughters: Norma Jean and Claudia Mae; siblings: Namoi Faye, Juanita “Tuby” Josephine, and Thurman Sr.
