Alice B. Doty, 74, of Vermillion, passed away on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

The Celebration of Alice’s life will be held Friday, September 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion. The prayer service will begin at 7 p.m., with Deacon Dennis Davis.

Alice was born February 4, 1950 to Adolph and Jean (Kulhavy) Thaler in Wagner. She graduated from Wagner High School in 1968.

She was united in marriage to Gary Doty on May 29, 1968. They were blessed with four children: Aaron, Tammy, Danny and Mark.

Alice worked at several places throughout her life, including Dale Electronics and HSC in Yankton and the Wagner Food Center in Wagner. She and Gary managed Main Steet Pawn in Wagner prior to retiring and moving to Vermillion.

Alice loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was at a sporting event, feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits outside her apartment building, or fishing on the riverbank. She loved to visit people, most recently spending time with her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Lou and Raymond, in Minnesota. She made friends quickly and easily, as all those in her apartment building will tell you. She could be found almost any day sitting outside visiting with her neighbors and anyone who happened to walk by. Most of all, she loved holiday gatherings with all the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She fiercely loved us all and we will forever cherish the memories from those gatherings.

Survivors are her children and spouses, Aaron of Vermillion, Tammy (Troy) Dufek of Colome, Danny (Penny) of Irene, and Mark (Chris) of Vermillion, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister Betty Lou (Raymond) Cihak of Lake Crystal, MN and sister-inlaw Arlene (Stephen) Rezac of Sioux Falls.

Loved ones who went before are her husband, Gary, parents, Adolph and Jean Thaler, parents-inlaw, James and Stella Doty, daughter-in-law, Barbara Doty, and brother, Gary Thaler.

Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion has been entrusted with the service.
