One of this week’s featured WCS seniors is Macy Koupal. Macy is the daughter of Michael and Tera Koupal. Macy does go by the nickname Mace. During her high school years at Wagner Community School, Macy has been very active in many extra- curricular activities including band (three years), basketball (four years), chorus (three years), National Honor Society (two years), track (four years), student council (four years) and volleyball (four years).

As Wagner is a farming community, it is important to offer Ag education to its students. Future Farmers of America (FFA) is a student organization offered through WCS for those students that are interested in expanding their knowledge of agriculture and leadership.

Andes Central is unique as opposed to other schools in the area in the aspect that they allow sophomores to become prospective members, allowing those students to be a part of the organization for longer than the usual two years as a junior and senior.

I told them that we needed to prioritize people, not projects. Our primary responsibility is to serve the people of the great state of South Dakota. And now, as we have wrapped up the 2024 legislative session, I am proud to say that we have done just that.
Read moreThe Red Raider wrestlers had a great season, finishing in 5th place at the state tournament and having five out of six of their state wrestling qualifiers place in the top four individually in their respective weight classes. Karstyn Lhotak, Riley Roberts, Jhett Breen, Gannon Knebel, Timothy Bouza and Kahle Hill all qualified for the state wrestling tournament.
Read moreThis month’s Lake Andes business spotlight is North Point Recreation Area. North Point Recreation Area is run by District Supervisor, Kris Monroe. Kris has been the District Supervisor for three years. Monroe became interested in this career because as a child she spent a lot of time camping, hunting, fishing and hiking. She loved being outside. When it came time to a pick a career, Kris knew that she wanted to do something that helped the next generation build some of the same memories that she had growing up. When asked what she enjoys the most about working in the Pickstown/Lake Andes area, Kris said the people. There are always smiling faces. Living in such a beautiful area is definitely a perk of the job as well. The sunsets are the best! As the District Supervisor, Kris really enjoys the people that she works with and the visitors that she gets to meet and interact with. She loves being able to see the kids laughing and playing in the park with their families.
