The Andes Central Class of 1974 recently gathered to celebrate and reminisce for their 50th class reunion. The class spent time over Fish Days weekend to celebrate this milestone and spend time together. Over 75 percent of the classes 44 graduating seniors attended the event. Four members of the class have passed away and a small memorial was on display for these members.

The 4th Annual 605 Unity Jam was held Sunday at Wagner Lake. The event is a A Multi-Cultural Jamboree of Art & Music. The purpose of the event is to increase cultural awareness, understanding, acceptance and appreciation of all cultures. They had live music featuring many bands including local artist Kara Hanan. The event had many activities for various ages including a Youth Pow Wow, Teen Spike Ball Tournament, Cardboard Box Boat Regatta, Czech Kolache Eating Contest, Youth Fishing Clinic and Fishing Derby, Adult and Teen Cornhole Tournaments and Traditional Native and Czech Dancing demonstrations. The Circle H Motel & RV Campground has a new name and new owners. Mark and Angela Schofield officially purchased the Circle H Motel & RV Campground in January of 2024. Along with new ownership comes a rebranding of the motel. The Schofield’s decided that The Lake Andes Inn was a much better fit for the hotel. Another reason that they renamed the motel was because they felt there was a disconnect with the name and the area.

Three (3), three year terms for school board member, were voted upon at the Andes Central School Board election held on June, 4, 2024: The candidates on the ballot were incumbents Nicole Gray, Debbra Houseman and Kristin Dvorak and challenger Kelly Tschumper. The unofficial election returns are as follows: Nicole Gray - 87 Debbra J. Houseman - 53 Kelly Tschumper - 97 Kristin M. Dvorak - 47 The number of registered voters of the school district on the date voter registration closed – 1,291.

Harrington Retires from Andes Central After 30 Years After 30 years of working for the Andes Central School District, Beth Harrington has decided to retire. Beth was a 5th grade teacher.
