Tyndall, SD- Bon Homme County Farmers Union and Bon Homme County 4-H hosted “Cooperation: Celebrate the Connections” day camp in Tyndall on June 29th. Youth spent the morning learning and watching demonstrations on 4-H farm safety. This included hands-on 4-wheeler ATV simulator and the Farm Safety Trailer, Fire Safety, Gun Safety, First Aid, Grain Safety, Animal and Electrical Safety. They heard from the Jaxon Boomsma family on the impact of farm safety and the tragedy of loss. The afternoon was spent playing games, making crafts, and learning more about soil and soil health, as well as the history of cooperatives and Farmers Union. Campers had the opportunity to make bracelets that represented each layer of soil and even took their own sample of soil for pH testing. It was a day full of fun where campers made lasting memories and friendships. All campers received a T-shirt and a ticket to send in for the SD State Fair. Special thanks to the Bon Homme 4-H Building for hosting, Pioneer Seed for sponsoring the camp, Bon Homme 4-H and FFA for helping coordinating the camp, and CHS and Farmers Union Insurance for supplying T-shirts and funding. Thank you to all the campers who came out to join us! For more information on youth activities visit: http://www.sdfu.org/education/youth-programs-/youth-camps.
