Celia Ann Patterson was born to Wilmer Patterson Sr. and Maria Sexton January 8, 1978. Celia died March 26, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Celia aka Cookie, grew up in Lower Brule where she spent most of her life. She attended school in Lower Brule where she obtained her GED. She worked various jobs in many capacities. However, she loved working with children, especially at the LB Boys & Girls Club/Teen Center. She enjoyed the kids as much as she did driving that old blue “FUN BUS,” spinning the kids around in that thing.

At the age of 19, Celia became a mother and welcomed her son Quentin into the world. In 2002, she welcomed another son Johnathan “JJ.” Celia was united in marriage to Robert Johnson Sr. and to this union two children were born: Shaelyn and Lawrence Johnson. They made a life together in Pierre.

Eventually moving back to the Lower Brule, Ft. Thompson, and Chamberlain areas. Celia’s hobbies were sewing and beading. She was very talented. She liked to cook and was the best fry bread maker! She also enjoyed socializing and hanging out with friends and family. She loved her children and in her eyes they could do no wrong. She will be missed by many especially her children.

Celia began her journey home at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls March 24.

Gratefully sharing her life are her children: Quentin, Johnathan, Shaelyn and Lawrence; her sisters: Teresa, Rolanda, Kenna, Amelia Felecia and Wilhemena Patterson; her brothers: David Gorge PS Flute, Goerge and Corwin Patterson; mother-in-law Marilyn Fallis; many cousins, family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her parents Wilmer and Maria; brother Roland Felecia and Wilmer Patterson Jr.; few family and friends who made their journey.
